Ride On for Bikewise week
The portable bike skills
course, Ride On proved to be a hit during the recent Bikewise events in Golden
Bay. Way2Go Coordinator Marty Clark and
TDC Recreation Advisor Mike Tasman-Jones assembled the raised boardwalk and
seesaw in the East Takaka Domain - the finish point of the 7km family bike
ride. 125 people took part in the ride, which started at Central Takaka School
and followed the historic garden trail through to the domain. Ride On is a new
programme that teaches kids of all ages how to ride their bikes confidently and
safely.
Congratulations to Reagan
Williams, he won the grand prize of an Avanti Adventurer bike.

Biking for Breakfast
Riding to school or work on Go By Bike Day in Golden Bay earned about seventy people in Golden Bay a breakfast of English
muffins with jam & cream-cheese.
Friends, Tonie Watts and Mary
Lees cycled in about eight kilometres from Clifton especially for the event. Both
in their 80s, Mary & Tonie cycle regularly for fitness and pleasure. Despite
two hip replacements, Tonie recently rode the Otago Rail Trail.
As well as the breakfast,
cyclists were rewarded with healthy snack bars, juice and cycle orientated
giveaways, like puncture repair kits
PS: There’s a new women’s social running group in the
Bay, contact Dave at Way2go for more details
